Behavior Momentum India was established in 2010 and started as a small organization for providing intervention to children with autism based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. It had its first intervention center in Bangalore with 9 children. In a short span due to the immense need for quality services BMI has grown from one center to nine centers across India serving over 300 children.

The organization focuses on evidence based practice with cutting edge technology and provides children with autism with 1:1 teaching based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis and BACB guidelines of ethical practice.

Due to a lack of ABA education in India to meet the needs of children with Autism, para-professionals were trained as behavioral trainers and BMI has provided training to nearly 180 para-professionals to date along with collaborations with different NGO's across India. BMI is the only organization in India to have three BCBA's and two on the way to BCaBA certification.

BMI conducts workshops for parents and professionals from time to time to educate and advocate ABA practice for improving the lives of children with a diagnosis of Autism. The workshops have been conducted in cities like Madurai, Tirupati, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Mumbai etc. and these will continue whilst there is still a need.

BMI has participated at ABA International Conferences by presenting research papers and posters and was the only organization from India to participate recently in the ABAI EXPO (part of the ABAI annual convention).

BMI's initial vision of using ABA was based on the experience of developed countries where ABA has improved the lives of children with autism. Having initiated such provision, and met with a fair amount of success, BMI has faced the scarcity of certified manpower. The first step was successfully implemented by training para-professionals,however, the most pressing need now is for BMI to have its own home grown ABA certified professionals in India. To meet these needs BMI approached highly qualified International faculty to start this course in India / BACB International Board to approve BMI courses.

Dr. Neil Martin had been the visionary to start the ABA course in India. He was initially the program director of BMI-ABA courses, but now being in a senior position in BACB board, has had to discontinue, and Mrs. Smita Awasthi is now the program director of ABA course of BMI.

The BACB approved BMI's course sequence, which is the only non-University ABA Course Work to provide affordable, face to face education in ABA for students living in India.
